    Project Management Methodology

Our Project Management Methodology will help to ensure successful project delivery in a structured fashion - on time, on budget and producing expected results. All projects need the right amount of project management governance to ensure successful completion. If a one size fits all approach is taken, project management processes can overtake the project and endanger a successful project delivery.

To determine the extent to which the project management methodology is formally applied to a project the size and complexity have to be considered.

To size a project in a consistently we have developed a sizing matrix taking into account Business- and Financial Factors. The Business and Financial factors should be balanced to determine project size. Duration, cost and project team size cannot be the sole factors of project sizing. Typically lengthy, high-cost projects with sizeable project teams will be determined to be large regardless of any specific business factor. In contrast, a short-duration, low-cost project can still be technically complex. In this case, applying small project management practices may not be appropriate.

Alignment of PMBOK and Mountaintop Consulting Methodology

With more than 150,000 members in over 150 countries, the Project Management Institute (PMI) is the world's foremost advocate for the project management profession (see www.pmi.org).

Created by the PMI, the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is a collection of processes and knowledge areas widely accepted as best practice within the project management discipline.

The PMBOK is an internationally recognized standard (IEEE Std 1490-1998) and includes five basic Project Management Processes:

    • Initiating
    • Planning
    • Executing
    • Controlling
    • Closing

We have aligned  the Mountaintop Consulting Methology with the PMBOK Process Groups, therefore we have been able to achieve a tight correlation between the Mountaintop Consulting Methodology and the worldwide Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

Thus, where PMBOK shows you what you need to do, Mountaintop Consulting Methodology shows you how to do it.For each core process in the PMBOK the Mountaintop Consulting Project Management Methodology has an equivalent step.

Alignment of PRINCE2 and Mountaintop Consulting Methodology

As PRINCE2 was initially created to manage UK government IT projects.

The Mountaintop Consulting Methodology and PRINCE2 describe the Project Lifecycle using slightly different terminology. It is however fair to say that the core processes within Mountaintop Consulting Project Management Methodology and PRINCE2 are aligned.

Ensure your Project Management Methodology is aligned with a recoginsied industry standard like PMBOK or Prince2 to ensure repeatable successful project delivery.
